For people who need my expertise tailored to their situation.

I take on a small number of commissions alongside teaching. Each one is scoped and priced individually. If you have something in mind, send a brief and I'll come back to you within five working days with a scope, a price, and a turnaround — or a note if it isn't something I can take on.

What I take on

Here are some of the things I can do for you.

Submission review and support. You're drafting a submission to a Ministry consultation, an inquiry, or a review. I read what you have, mark it up, suggest structure, point you to relevant evidence, and return a version you can take forward.

Briefings and analysis. You need a written piece on a specific topic for a specific audience — your department or staff, your union members, your board, your community. I produce it. Typically under 2,000 words, written for the people you'll share it with.

Document analysis. You have a Ministry document, an ERO report, a curriculum draft, a board paper, a piece of correspondence. You want to know what it says, what it doesn't say, what to watch for – and what it means for you. I produce a structured analysis.

OIA strategy. You want to file requests under the Official Information Act but aren't sure how to scope them. I produce a set of well-structured requests for you to file under your own name, with notes on how to read what comes back.

How it works

Send a brief through the form below. I respond within five working days with scope, price, and turnaround, or a note declining the work.

If we proceed, I send a Stripe payment link. Once payment clears, I begin. You receive the work by email within the agreed turnaround.

What this isn't for

I don't take commissions that conflict with my public-interest investigative work or cross my ethical boundaries.

I'm not a lawyer or a financial adviser, and commissions that need legal or financial advice aren't something I can take on.
